Project Based On: The state of economic issues in an internet-enabled society,
Proof of Concept: Logicalfiction
An attempt to make news reading an exercise to improve critical thinking. Fiction depicting facts have a power to influence society. Take for example the One Hundred Years of Solitude, portrays the the banana massacre.
In my blog ” The state of economic issues in an internet-enabled society“, I tried to think of the a proper method to discuss news and promote critical thinking among the readers. An proof of concept is at available here.
The POC is based on NYTimes article Footage Contradicts U.S. Claim That Nicolás Maduro Burned Aid Convoy. The article describes, how a doctored footage circulated by Columbian government shapes the narrative against Venezuela’s president, leading to sanctions by USA.
POC is designed to make the reader assume a role of investigative journalism. For example, the reader is allowed to arrive at a wrong conclusion: “Its clear, he only set the truck on fire”.

Whats different is, the article talks the reader out to a correct way of thinking. It prompts with questions like “But Colombian government released the footage, is it complete, lets examine it?”, making the user think about the report.
